Trees & Shrubs
Trees and Shrubs plays a vital role in maintaining the balance of the ecological system. The difference between the two is that trees grow over 20 feet tall and have trunks that are about 2 inches in their diameter. Shrubs are smaller in size compared to trees and have stems growing from the ground that are covered in bark.
Sri Lanka is home to over 4000 species of trees and shrubs of which roughly 220 are endemic to the island that belongs to 25 genera of species.
According to the research we carried on surrounding the area of Beragala – Wellawaya, we have come across a vast number of plant species that are endemic and native to the area. The Woods work hard at conserving and protecting this natural flora and their habitat in and out of the land.
